Sentinel Data Analytics — Senior Software Developer

Sentinel Data Analytics is a software and service provider for the aviation industry, specifically on-demand charter. In my current role I am a full-stack developer working on a multi-tenant web application for private charter operators.

Performed code reviews and mentoring, especially on matters related to backend services where I had sole responsibility for direction and signoff.
Designed, architected and implemented a realtime quoting engine that allowed SDAC’s sister company, Moser Aviation, to reach the highest jet utilization rates in the US.
Led transition of backend API to .NET Core, and the front end from AngularJS 1.x to Angular 2+ and TypeScript.
Implemented a number of AWS Lambda services including a set of coordinated services to calculate forecasted winds aloft for a given set of flight paths.
Designed and implemented AI-integrated features, as well as helping integrate AI tooling into the development process.

Rothwell Group — Lead Software Developer

2015 – 2017 · Golden, CO

The Rothwell Group is a mixed product/consulting company that focuses on the oil & gas space specializing in complex web applications. In this role I was a technical lead for a variety of projects in different stages of the life cycle, from brand new to maintenance.

Designed, architected and implemented web application for aviation industry using Web API 2 (C#), OWIN on the backend and AngularJS 1.x on the front. This project was the MVP for what would become Sentinel Data Analytics.
Redesigned and refactored mixed-use large-scale enterprise geodatabase system for oil and gas industry using SQL Server 2012 and the Esri ArcGIS C# API.
Optimization and refactoring of low-level GIS functionality for dynamic plate tectonic reconstruction. Spearheaded migration from ArcGIS API to the open source GDAL package with rigorous regression suites.

Billtrust (Acquired Open Scan) — VP Development

2014 – 2015 · Denver, CO

Billtrust is a payment cycle management company providing bill printing and electronic delivery functionality, and after the acquisition of Open Scan in July 2014, expanded into accounts receivable as well. Prior to departure moved to a hands-on role as VP of Research & Development.

Oversaw Development and Quality Assurance for the Receivables Division, including the transition and blending of the division.
Managed and helped design the transition from single-tenant architecture to redundant multi-tenant architecture.

Open Scan — Chief Technology Officer

2012 – 2014 · Denver, CO

Open Scan was a software and service provider for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable automation. In this role, first as Director of Development and then as CTO, I oversaw Development, Quality Assurance, and IT (> 25 employees).

Led technical transition from on-premise software to SaaS.
Led rewrite of final business-critical applications from VB6 to C#.
Mentored developers and reviewed code for most critical aspects of the software suite.
Technical lead for fundraising and eventual acquisition.

In my role as development manager I oversaw the development organization and was in a player-coach role (team of 8–12).

Led technical transition to an out-of-the-box software product.
Mentored and trained developers.
Implemented high-speed native C# image processing library that required the implementation and optimization of algorithms from academic papers.
Acted as Scrum Master for cross-functional teams.

In my role as Lead Developer I led small teams of developers to implement and extend products. This included mentoring and code reviews. Additionally I helped spearhead the transition from VB6 to .NET (C#).
